Sunday saw the Over 45’s from the club playing Southwell Brincliffe United from Nottingham.
Driffield started strong with a large amount of possession and a defensive line well prepared if Brincliffe broke.
There was great passing around the backs with some long balls from the midfield helping us get the ball up the pitch.
The 1st goal came in the 13th minute when Fiona Tuplin struck a ball into the circle with a nice little touch from Debbie Nelson popping the ball past the keeper (reminiscent of the old days in their youth!) Everyone continued to push up the pitch with several balls just sliding wide past the post.
The 2nd goal came 26 minutes into the game, again the ball was worked well around the pitch putting pressure on the Brincliffe defence with Lisa managing to get the ball past a very strong keeper.
The second half started slowly with Driffield loosing a bit of shape and Brincliffe taking advantage, putting our defence under pressure, but they never quite managed to get to the target.
Driffield continued to push up the field and finally in the 68th minute, another ball struck into the circle by Fiona Tuplin was again slotted past the keeper by Debbie Nelson.
A full team performance where everyone worked tirelessly and played their part in the final 3-0 score.
Driffield will be playing their quarter final match on Sunday 12th April against another strong establish club Bowdon, who will travel to us from South Manchester.
