Another Thumping

Final match for Ladies 3rds chasing a win to conclude what has been a very successful season.
Choosing to defend the “shady” end of the pitch on a very warm morning Driffield Ladies were quick on the attack.
Ella Dean in centre midfield intercepted the forward pass from Newland, setting up Jae Gate & Emily Collinge to work up the right wing. Louise Foster then finished, working the back line with a clean strike across the goal which we were unlucky not to convert.
Driffield Ladies well coordinated play and fitness resulted in a first goal for Louisa Chacksfield who was perfectly positioned to deflect a shot on goal from Julie Pease.
Strong accurate passing between midfield Soanes, Dean & Collinge prevented Newland from building any real threat and a couple of breaks were quickly blocked by Welburn, Falkingham & Measom.
Louise Foster on the forward line worked tirelessly with Pease to win a number of penalty corners, two of which were converted from a clean strike into the left corner of the goal by Pease and a reverse stick from Chacksfield.
Driffield substitutions resulted in a refreshed forward line and Emily Collinge was able to dodge her way around Newland defence and strike the ball cleanly past the Keeper.
Approaching half time, Driffield momentarily lost concentration and Newland played the advantage . A messy scramble on the goal line resulted in Newland scoring.
Second half and Driffield ladies consistently out-played the opposition.
Lilli Mae Borman & Maya Brown added to the tally and in the last ten minutes of the game Debs Nelson; our Goal Keeper stripped off her pads and took up a forward line position. Debs is retiring this season but certainly demonstrated her amazing stick skills with a reverse stick deflection past the Newland Keeper.
The final score 12:1. With Louisa Chacksfield scoring 5.
Ladies 3rds have finished 2nd in Wolds 1 division having only lost 2 games to Hawks .Hawks goal difference 91 for and 12 against compared to our difference of 102 for and 17 against.
Promotions and restructure of the divisions is yet to be confirmed.
