Draw - a good result.

After a run of 3 away matches it was great to be playing back on our home pitch and the Ladies 3rd team really stepped up.
Driffield are becoming adept at adapting to new players in the team and from the start of play we piled the pressure on Huddersfield.
Phoebe Goodlass and Clemmi Bottomley formed a great partnership on the right and were able to bypass the opposition defence to get a base line pass into the D. The shots on goal just missing the target.
Play was fast and furious with Huddersfield attacking down the centre relying on one player in particular. GK, Riona Welburn cleared a couple of shots on goal and fullback Falkingham saved one shot on the line.
20 minutes into the game and Julie Pease collected a strong pass from midfield, worked the ball past a couple of defenders and took a shot on the goal that was neatly deflected past the GK by Clemmi.
Huddersfield pushed back harder and the equaliser came just before the halftime whistle from a penalty corner.

The second half and Driffield were the stronger team. Huddersfields problematic centre forward was heavily marked out of the game by new team member Immi Spears , allowing wingbacks Welburn and Beachell to clear the ball upto the wings and opening up the play and opportunities. It was Clemmi again who was able to push Driffield into to lead with an accurate reverse stick shot on goal that sailed past the Huddersfield Keeper.
Unfortunately 10 minutes before the final whistle play had to be stopped for an injury. Driffield momentarily lost their momentum and some muddling on top of the D resulted in Huddersfield getting a clear shot on the goal to equalise in the final minutes.
Player of the match was Lucy Welburn for her solid defending.
