Victory for the 2s.

Saturday 5th March, the ladies 2s stepped onto the pitch looking to secure a win. Hull University had the push back but their hold on the ball was soon interrupted by Burgess. With this Driffield was driving up the pitch towards the goal. Tuplin used her sublime stick skills to win a short corner. Driffield used this to assess Hull's defenders, watching how they run out. Moore took the strike which was saved by the keeper. Driffield reset and pressed the 16, they formed and impenetrable ring which allowed them to intercept the ball and attack the D again. Blythe used her speed and agility to slalom her way through the defenders and slot the ball in the back of the net!
Driffield continued to break down the defense and win numerous short corners. Hull defended them well until a quick interception from Lee to Tuplin at the top of the D, who drew the defender towards her just before she slipped the ball left to Smith, who struck the ball towards goal for Riby to dazzlingly deflect the ball into the goal!
Hull responded with a quick attack in which they won a short corner. Keeper Baz saved the first strike but the Hull attackers had another attempt, lifting the ball which was saved by Morgan on the goal line and cleared.
On pitch captain Dean was able to penetrate their press and launch the ball up the pitch to Riby for another attack. The half time whistle blew at 2-0.
Levitt's team talk praised the positive play she had seen in the first half. Walking back into the pitch feeling refreshed after Edmond's oranges Driffield were ready to bag more goals. Starting with the ball Driffield were soon on the attack again, Percival driving up the right wing, taking in players and linking up with Burgess to eliminate players. Lee and Riby pulled the Hull defenders allowing Percival to attack the D and have a shot on goal which was saved but followed up by Blythe which saw it deflect of a defenders stick into the goal for the 3rd!
Hull getting restless, started to build their attack but this was shut down by Burkinshaw. Driffield held the play in their half, battering Hull with attacks up the left and right. Moore caused havoc for the Hull defenders, working tirelessly in the midfield, transferring the ball from left to right.
Driffield had been awarded a short corner, which Moore placed for Burgess to have a strike. Burgess struck the ball with some power resulting in the ball bouncing of the defenders stick into her own chest rewarded Driffield with another short. This time Driffield opted for the in out, Lee injected to Burgess, then out to Tuplin, in to Burgess who slapped the ball toward Blythe for the 4th goal!
Hull continued to attempt to break down the solid defence of Morgan and Dean to no success. Edmonds intercepted all loose balls and worked with Burkinshaw to attack up the left. Edmonds saw the space and timed her pass to perfection for Lee to collect and drive into the D. Winning another short corner. Unfortunately Hull managed to keep the ball from the goal and the final whistle blew. The score finished at 4-0.
