Ladies 2s were back at home this Saturday on a bright and hot October morning.

From the start, Driffield’s defence of Ellen Calder, Phoebe Goodlass and Kirsty Edmond worked tirelessly to defend strongly and securely win the ball, limiting Louth to just a few attacking opportunities in the first half. Shanie Burton in goal made sure any opportunity was cleared with ease. Steph Robinson connected brilliantly with the back three to eliminate danger, with Hattie Gillingham providing excellent central support.

Driffield held Louth to a 0-0 draw at half-time and following some encouraging words from Steve and half-time oranges, we were ready to turn up the volume in the second half!

Shortly after the break, Driffield came out attacking strongly, with Polly Burgess and Kat Gaskin winning the ball high up the pitch and testing the Louth defence. Lots of communication and brilliant passing eventually led to Katie Lee firing home the first goal of the afternoon.

Momentum was building in Driffield’s favour, with Mia Hill and Sophia Bryan making threatening runs and carries down the wings. Some fantastic link-up play led to a wide ball being crossed into the circle, where Sarah Aspey hammered it home to make it 2-0 to Driffield.

But Driffield weren’t done just yet!

The team were awarded an attacking penalty corner towards the end of the match, and Katie Lee grabbed her second goal of the day with a perfect textbook finish from the right back post.

A fabulous 3-0 win for the team! Well played everyone, and a huge thank you to all our home supporters on the sidelines for cheering us on.
