Driffield started with pushback feeling fierce and determined for another win, taking the opposing side by surprise we quickly gained a short corner which we unfortunately didn’t come out triumphant. Knowing we were close we worked hard and in the 3rd minute there was some amazing work from the forward line of Lauren, Katie and Polly to put pressure on the home team’s defence resulting in Lauren being able to gain us an early lead. Driffield knew they needed to keep relentless. Rotherham made some vicious attacks but they were blocked out by our back line of Kirsty, Meg, Charlotte and Lucy. In a counter attack we managed to beat the opposition and Katie successfully got us up to 0-2. Working together with the wind behind us and only a few minutes left of the first half we managed to successfully obtain a short corner, taking full advantage of the situation we worked quick to put pressure on and a straight strike from Polly brought our side 0-3 up at half time. Some positive words from manager Henri left us desperate to keep the win. The second half of the game was challenging, and as we began to see the opposition get goal hungry we knew we had to stay stronger. Great work from the midfielders Hannah, Sophia and Phoebe trying to connect the back and forward lines, some good runs were made by hattie, Katie and Polly but unfortunately it wasn’t enough and Rotherham got a goal. Keeper Shanie worked amazingly to deny Rotherham a goal and amy was relentless in helping the defensive line get rid of any new attacks. Due to everyone’s contribution we successfully kept the score 1-3 till the end of the game.
It was a lovely game to be a part of.
Congratulations to Polly burgess for player of the match and donkey Henri for taking us to teas before the match.
Finally thank you to Rotherham’s accommodation, umpire’s and teas, and our drivers
