Driffield 4 - York - 1
Expectations were high as the second team travelled to York for a late push back on Saturday. The team were hungry for a win and knew that this could be the turning point in their season. Going in hard from the start the Driffield midfield of Moore, Lucas, Tuplin and Gillingham pushed forwards, sending York into a frenzy. Captain Tuplin led by example as she got the blues on the scorecard with the first goal. The forwards Riby, Howe and Walker -Rouse continued to pressure the York defence and two more goals came in the first half, one a text book skill lesson from the young Pip Lucas. At half time the blues were on a high, but York came back in full force in the second half, pushing forward at the defence of Smith, Edmond, Drewery, Sellar and Welburn and unfortunately slipping one goal through. However goalkeeper Baz made a number of fantastic saves to keep the York attack out. Captain Tuplin got the final goal of the game to make the score 4-1 to the blues, who ended on a real high and hunger for a win in the next game.
