Moore Brace

On Saturday 24th November, Driffield Ladies Second team welcomed Sheffield Ladies third team. After a defeat to them last weekend away we thought we knew their tactics …

After a strong start for Driffield with Amy Moore scoring the first goal of the match from a short corner after 5 minutes, coach Fiona Tuplin made the first 4 changes bringing Hannah Southwell, Lucinda Maltas, Katie Lee and Emily Collinge on.

Sheffield then started to work in triangles and managed to get 3 goals in the first half making it 1-3.

After a team talk at half time, Driffield forwards Polly Burgess, Bella Thomson and Milly Riby worked together and had a good shot which annoyingly came off the post. The defence Charlotte Smith, Henri Williams, Andriana Drewery and Meg Sellars transferred the ball round the back which seem to work well.

The mids Hattie Gillingham and Hannah Atkinson did endless amounts of running. Thank goodness for fresh legs!! Driffield were then awarded a penalty flick which Amy Moore stepped up to take and scored the second goal for Driffield making it 2-3.

Unfortunately in the last two minutes Sheffield got a short corner which they scored from making the end result 2-4. Goal Keeper Kat Young had some great saves.

Thank you to Spread Eagle for providing the teas and thank you to the umpires. It was nice to have a a lot of supporters as some matches were cancelled due to the frost.
