On Sunday 15th October, Driffield ladies 2nds welcomed Leeds university 3rds for their second game of the weekend.
Leeds university started strong, catching the Driffield side off guard and scoring 3 goals in the first 20 minutes from open play. Driffield then sorted themselves out with the defence of Kirsty, Charlotte, Lucinda and Meg working hard to stop further attacks by Leeds.
The midfield of Gemma, Hannah, Emily and Amy worked tirelessly throughout the game to support both the defence and attack. Towards the end of the first half the ball was slotted through to Katie on the left hand side of the D, which she smashed into the net, making the score 1-3 going into half time.
The second half Driffield came out fighting and had most of the possession with keeper Kat only touching the ball a couple of times. The attack of Zoe, Julie and Katie supported by the whole team tired everything to score the goals but they just weren’t coming, even after a couple of goal mouth scrambles.
Late into the game Driffield got a short corner, which was eventually put into the net by Hannah. Driffield were unlucky not to equalise with the game ending 2-3.
