Driffield Women’s 1st team put in a strong performance on the road to earn a 3–1 win away at Pocklington.
The home side started well and went 1–0 up in the first 10 mins, putting Driffield under early pressure. But Driff didn’t let their heads drop and soon began to settle into the game with some effective pressing and better control of the ball.
The equaliser came in the 20th minute when Charlotte B-Smith scored from a well-worked in/out short corner with captain Tuplin. The goal gave Driffield confidence, and they kept the pressure on the Pocklington defence.
Just ten minutes later, Driffield received another short corner, on the second phase of the short, Tuplin pulled the ball back to the P spot for Bry Holtby to work her magic finding the back of the net to make it 2–1.
At the back, Driffield’s defence were solid, moving the ball well and helping create chances for the midfield and forwards to advance up the field.
The third goal came in the 50th minute when Hannah Horsley struck a blaster of a ball across goal into the bottom corner giving the GK no chance, thus extending the lead 3-1. Driffield continued to apply pressure for the rest of the game, linking play well through the midfield and out wide.
Overall, it was a great team performance and a deserved three points after fighting back from an early setback.
