Driffield Ladies 1's v Leeds 4's

Undefeated Driffield Ladies 1s hit the road to Leeds for a late-day showdown — a true top-of-the-table clash and their toughest test yet. An inspirational (and perfectly fired-up) team talk from Captain Fiona Tuplin set the tone, sending the squad out buzzing for a big first half.
Right from the whistle, Driffield came out flying. Leeds matched the intensity, and the opening half turned into a breathless, end-to-end battle worthy of a highlight reel. Just when it looked like the half would finish level, Driffield earned a short corner with seconds to spare. Cue the Tuplin duo, cue Charlotte, cue the classic in-and-out routine — and cue the opening goal. Perfectly called by the captain. Perfectly executed. Perfectly timed.
After a confident half-time reset, Driffield launched into the second half exactly as they’d finished the first: on the front foot. It didn’t take long for Captain Fiona Tuplin to double the lead with a cool, clinical finish. Leeds weren’t ready to roll over, though, and struck back from a short corner to make it 2–1, keeping the tension high.
But Driffield’s defence? Ice-cold. Calm, composed, and utterly unshakeable. They controlled the ball across the back line, recycling play with confidence before releasing the midfield. A spell of textbook passing opened up the D, and Hannah Atkinson stepped up to absolutely hammer the ball past the keeper for 3–1.

The midfield were the engine room of the team, grafting tirelessly from whistle to whistle. Their work rate never dipped, snapping up loose balls, breaking down Leeds’ play, and keeping Driffield ticking with smart, sharp distribution. Time after time they switched the play with pinpoint accuracy, linking defence to attack and setting the platform for the goals that followed — a calm, clever, hard-working unit that quietly controlled the game.

Still hungry, Driffield pressed on. Forward Bron Walker-Rouse glided in and slipped the ball past the keeper one last time, sealing a commanding 4–1 victory.
A brilliant game, full of graft, grit, and gorgeous hockey — and most importantly, fantastic teamwork from start to finish. Driffield Ladies 1s remain undefeated through the first half of the season.
Mission accomplished!
