Driffield 1 headed over to Harrogate this weekend and came away not only with three points, but with a story or two to tell. The home side came out aggressively competitive—they played like they’d eaten raw chilli flakes for breakfast, spicy—but Driffield rose to the challenge with style, composure, and the occasional yelp.
Driff set the tone early, slotting in three goals in the first half. Bron bagged the first (and later added another for good measure), Bry added a tidy finish of her own, and the scoreboard was looking decidedly friendly. Harrogate pulled one back before the whistle, just to remind everyone they were still there and still fighting.
The second half brought more goals and… drama. Charlotte put away a well-earned goal before Bry was promptly relocated to the bench after taking a firm hit to the knuckles from a Harrogate defender. The kind of player you don’t argue with—unless you enjoy ice packs.
Hannah A wrapped up Driffield’s tally with a cool strike, while Harrogate squeezed in a second goal, but by then the result was all but sealed.
A 5–2 win, four different goal contributors, and only a few minor arguments(that we know of). A cracking performance all round—and a well-earned victory against a fiery Harrogate side.
Girly was Charlotte Braidwood-Smith for all round fabulousness. Keeping it in the family was Fiona Tuplin as Donkey ?
