On Saturday 20th September 2025 Driffield Ladies 1st Team faced local rivals Scarborough at home in an action-packed fixture.
The match got off to a dramatic start with Driffield finding themselves 2–0 down within the opening stages, it was time to wake up and notice they had 12 players on the pitch! Driffield then dominated possession and started creating numerous chances, striker Bry Holtby pulled the team level before half-time with two well-taken goals, including a superb deflection into the top right corner, so after a rocky start Driffield went into the break buoyed at 2–2.
There was also a memorable moment when Kate Moore from a short corner attempted to fire one top net but instead sent the ball flying over the fence—landing neatly in the neighbouring football pitch’s net!
The second half saw Driffield take full control. Ashley Oliver, who earned the title of Player of the Match, netted twice. One from was a penalty flick and the other a short corner routine which she hit clinically into the bottom corner. Kate Moore also redeemed herself at another short corner, scoring after confirming exactly which goal she should be aiming at this time!
The match ended in a well-deserved 5–2 victory for Driffield, a strong performance that sets them up positively for next week’s away trip to Doncaster.
