Bottom of the table clash
The Driffield ladies 1s were at home this weekend for a bottom of the table clash against Halifax ladies 1s.
The game began with the Driffield ladies very much in control, the ball was being passed around the back beautifully and chances created in the attacking half.
Unfortunately, a quick counter attack from the Halifax team ended in first goal to them, completely against the run of play.
Countless attacks from Driffield were finally rewarded with a goal!! After a Braidwood-Smith drive into the āDā, the pass found Holtby who fought to get the ball across the line with a goal line scramble.
Driffield were peppering the Halifax defence with balls into the āDā, numerous corners, long and short, but to no avail.
A chance Halifax long ball out from the back corner found its way to the forward and the chance was taken, putting Driffield 2-1 down.
Two attacking short corners to Driffield after the final whistle made Driffield believe surely they could still get a point from this game. But sadly again the ladies could not find the back of the net.
Next week is Halifax away, if the ladies can convert some of their chances then surely their best chance of getting some points on the board!
Donkey - Holly Snaith who leaves to go to Canada this week - good luck Holly!
Girlie - Amy and Charlotte joint winners!
Thanks goes to the Spread Eagle for post-match refreshments.
