Driffield ladies 1s travelled to Stokesly this weekend with spirit in their sticks and a positive mindset.
The sun provided a strong advantage to
Stokesly who were showing their pace on the loose ball early on and forced play their way converting a ball. Driffield were not going down without a fight despite the opposition of 13, and Horsley found a goal from their back line and slotted it in to make it 1-1.
Half time team talk from Holtby reminded the team that the only thing we can control is ourselves and we needed to keep calm, but the passion and energy was definitely on the surface of the ladies. Fires were lit and frustrations started to burn causing a yellow card Driffield's way. Down to 10 players, Driffield were determined to fight for this game, the win was just in reach. After some unfair decisions, amateur dramatics and some players confusing baseball for hockey, Stokesly had gotten Driffield where they needed them to be and pushed a further 3 into the goal.
Today wasn't Driffield's day but next week at home against Halifax is a whole new opportunity. Join the ladies for a 2pm push back.
Thanks to Chris for managing the sideline and advice this weekend.
