Driffield ladies first team travelled to Whitley Bay on Saturday to play top of the table. It was always going to be a tough ask as the team is still settling into this new league but the girls came out full of optimism and determination. A strong team talk from captain Bry set the scene for what was a hard game. Driffield’s structure and patience allowed them to take an early lead from a short corner sweetly struck by Charlotte to be slotted in by Rebecca. A tireless effort from the Driffield girls kept the top of the table team under control until just before half time when unfortunately they scored 2 quick goals one from a short corner the other from open play. The half time talk was again full of passion and energy and Coach Chris gave some inspirational words of encouragement to keep working hard for each other and keep our heads held high. The second half was more consistent from the Driffield girls but the Whitley Bay team were just relentless and despite our best efforts the score line finished 4.1 This team are playing some outstanding hockey in a league that is one off national, against some very strong opposition. With determination and belief and working together for each other, a deserving score is just round the corner! Girlie: Sibelle Baz - an outstanding game Donkey: No one this week!!
