This Saturday the ladies 1’s knew they had a tough game, having gone up a league, they were facing the previous seasons league champs Wakefield 2’s.

Opening minutes, Driffield came out strong. Forwards Frankie Marsh and Bry Holtby working hard with the midfield Keira Dinsdale-Young, Gemma Tuplin and Vicky Scott linking nicely for Emma Speake to finish the attack with a goal.

Minutes later a penalty flick awarded to Driffield allowed speake to extend this lead to 2-0.

Wakefield put pressure on a solid Driffield defence. Keeper Sibelle Baz ensuring anything getting through the defensive line was dealt with confidently.

The second half was another show of resilience for the Driffield defenders. Emily Brightling, Kate Moore, Holly Snaith, Vikki Bannister and Ash Gate putting in solid tackles and clearing the pressure well.

This hard work paid off allowing Amy Moore and Charlotte Braidwood-Smith to slot 2 further goals past the Wakefield keeper.

In the final minutes of the game, Wakefield managed to finally find a gap and got themselves 1 point on the board.
