Back at home, Driffield ladies 2’s faced a determined Hull University who arrived 3 players short. From the whistle, Driffield dominated up front with Burgess, Lee and Johnstone all rotating seamlessly. Two minutes in, Johnstone capitalised from the far post slotting in a deflected ball. Playing tactful hockey from the back Percival, Smith and Edmond controlled the game to keep Hull’s attackers endlessly moving and far from L.Blythe in goal. Onwards, the Robinson and Moore powerhouse drove fearlessly into the D to find Bryan and Lee to end the half 3-0.
After Edmond’s Oranges energised the squad, we stepped back on the pitch keen to improve. Here Teasdale, Gillingham, and Gaskin hassled the Hull defenders generating a number of vital short corners. A few seamless routines later and Moore, Lee and Gillingham brought the goals up to 7. However, still not satisfied S.Blythe and Bryan continued to drive the baseline eager to hunt the oppositions weaknesses and get another on the scoresheet. Hull, feeling the pressure of the 2’s, couldn’t keep Bryan from slotting a second goal in. A satisfying second half left the game 8-0 to Driffield Ladies 2s who are ready for the rematch away next Saturday.
Girlie was shared among the team from Moore, Lee and Bryan - alongside Hulls keeper for her excellent performance. Donkey made its way to Moore for playing football. With thanks to the Umpires and Deano at The Spread for supporting us.
