Out of Relegation Zone.

On a cold wet saturday morning, Driffield ladies seconds made the trek to Halifax. The opposition had first push back but Driffield applied pressure from the get go. Pressing onward a short corner was awarded. Due to a lovely drag flick from Moore Driffield ladies were now 1-0 in the lead. Halifax came back fighting making an entry into our D, but all shots on goal were saved by our brilliant keeper Baz. The defenders Smith, Moore, Edmond, Sellars, Williams and Drewery, made some lovely transfers around the back allowing Driffield to keep possession for majority of the game. Driffield continued to press forward, getting the ball up the pitch to the midfielders, Tuplin, Collinge, Atkinson, and Gillingham, who used link play to beat the Halifax defenders. Not long before half time Driffield had won another short corner. With a nice strong pass out the ball made its way back to left post where Moore swept it into the back of the goal, making it 2-0.

After being refreshed by oranges and a team talk, Driffield were ready for the second half. Instantly the ball made its way up the pitch to the forwards, Howe, Riby and Lassie who had numerous shots on goal but due to some good saves and the wiping out of Lassie none hit the back of the goal. However, this did not discourage Driffield who continued to fight. Many more short corners were given in our favour, we were unlucky and unable to hit the backboard; until Williams from the top of the D hit the ball to right post where Howe met it deflecting it into the goal resulting in a 3-0 lead. Halifax came back strong pushing the ball up the pitch but Driffield defended well, managing to keep the ball out of the goal.
