Travelling away to play against Northallerton 1s, Driffield Ladies 2s had high hopes after their recent success. However, from the beginning of the match, Northallerton proved themselves to be a tricky opponent. Despite quick passing around the pitch form mid fielders Kirsty Edmond and Meg Sellar, and multiple shots on goal form Lilli Borman and Louise Burkinshaw, Northallerton seemed to be everywhere to intercept the ball. After an unlucky breakthrough from one of their players, defenders Paula Dean and Sue Morgan were there to make many successful tackles, however Northallerton won a short corner from which they scored. After another attempt, with many impressive saves from goalkeeper Sibelle Baz and interceptions from Charlotte Smith and Vikki Banister, Northallerton unfortunately scored again, leaving the score at 2-0 to them at half time. However, Driffield return for the second half time more determined than ever. After quick passes down the line from Hannah Newby and Katie Percival, Driffield won a short corner, and from a shot at the top of the D, Vikki Bannister showed that Driffield was ready to fight back, making the score 2-1. With an incredible top corner shot from the edge of the D, Katie Lee levelled up the score, leaving even the goalkeeper in disbelief. From then on Driffield were on a winning streak, with a third goal scored by Polly Burgess. Katie Lee, however, was unfinished, and scored once more from a short corner. This was quickly followed by a top D strike from Fiona Tuplin, leaving the final score as 5-2 to Driffield. Girlie of the game went to Katie Lee. Donkey went to Polly Burgess. Match report by Katie Percival.
