On Sat Driffield Ladies 2nd team travelled to Selby to hopefully play a warmer game of hockey than last weeks game!
Driffield started very well with great passing around the pitch, the backs and wing backs moving the ball with pace getting the ball down the wings. Selby’s big hitters didn’t succeed in getting the ball through to their forwards as Driffield were ready for them and just dropped deeper down the pitch and kept blocking the ball off. The first goal came along when Driffield were awarded a short corner. Milly Riby not only injected the ball but as the ball went out to the striker she moved in and after a solid hit from Amy Moore, she showed great reactions as she picked up the ball off a defenders stick and reverse flicked the ball in the net.
Driffield kept on pushing and not to long after the first goal came Milly was there again, running down the right hand side of the pitch and struck the ball across the D, the Selby defender didn’t stop the ball well and Milly pounced on the ball and slapped it hard straight in the back of the net.
Selby had a few chances but Sibelle in goal stopped everything making one particularly excellent save sliding to her right deflecting the ball out wide away from the Selby forwards.
It was a real team effort everybody giving 100% and gained a good 3 points to keep them in mid table.
