Driffield started the game strong, looking for their second win this season. They were playing Lincolnshire Ladies, Lindum 2’s.
Harriet Dobson put the blues into the lead early on, finishing a cross from midfielder Alice Walker in the opening two minutes of the game.
Just 5 minutes later, forward Kathryn Bumby scored from a one on one with the Lindum keeper, from a counter attack created by excellent defensive play from the Driffield back line, Ellen Calder, Mags Purnell, Charlotte Smith and Helen Holdsworth.
Kathryn scored her second goal just minutes later from a lay off by Lauren Dinsdale-Young. Shortly followed by a third. A 16 Yard hit out Straight to winger, Lauren Dinsdale-Young from Ellen Calder set her up for an opportunity to score but the keeper took her out, earning a penalty flick for the blues. Unfortunately, unable to convert, the ladies were not discouraged and brilliant midfield play by Ash Gate, Bry Sykes and Rach Kendall continued the offensive for Driffield creating numerous opportunities leading Di Levitt to score from a rebound off the keepers pad in the 34th minute of the first half.
Half time ended 5-0 up to the blues, with a great team talk by captain Charlotte Smith, and Keeper Becks Lalor, and of course jelly babies.
Kathryn Added 2 more goals to the tally finishing crosses from Harriet Dobson and Di Levitt.
The attack continued converting a corner, thanks to a brilliant strike by Ash Gate and as Bry Sykes sent the ball from the top of the D to Harriet Dobson on the post to deflect into the goal.
The 10th and final goal came as Lauren Dinsdale-Young hit the cross bar with a reverse strike and Kathryn followed up on the rebound. Safe to say, Lindum were glad to hear the final whistle blow.
A massive thank you to the umpires and for Bob at Spread Eagle for his famous cheesy Lasagne. The twos play at home again next week against the university of hull first team.
