Old School Hockey

An unfortunate 2-1 loss against dewsbery ends our 3 game winning streak. Despite our grit, determination and perseverance, dewsbury’s old fashioned gameplay and questionable decision making from the umpires came out on top after 2 goals in the first 20 minutes. One being a flick from a short corner that skimmed the crossbar into the back of the net after keeper Mel had got a pad to it. The second came from a scrappy piece of play in the ugly zone that unfortunately got through our otherwise strong back line of Steph, Molly, Rose and Holly.
After an encouraging and important half time team talk by Gemma, we came out strong, winning the ball in their half in the first minute and continuing to pressurise their defence. This hard work was well deserved when Hannah scored a spectacular reverse hit. Again and again we attacked with the midfield consisting of Keira, Eve, Vicky and Ash feeding our forward line. However, these fierce attempts from Fiona, Chloe, Hannah and Emily came close but did not find the back of the net before the full time whistle blew. Donkey and girlie both went to Eve Naylor.
Also a special thanks goes to Yorkwold Pigpro for their sponsorship.
