Under 16 Girls - Match Report
23rd September 2018
Driffield U16 girls had their first league matches of the season in Division 3 of the Yorkshire League. This was the first time most of the girls had played together so they did well winning one and losing two.
First game against Huddersfield they lost 3-0, despite great defending from Louise, Mimi and Holly. After a team talk from Fiona and Pip, they started the 2nd game against Slazengers really well and were soon 1-0 up after Emily got on the end of Gracie’s cross. Mollie combined well with Marie on the right to send in another cross for Emily to finish. Confidence grew and they were playing nice hockey. Holly had a free hit which she sent up field to Izzy who hit into the D and this time it was Lydia who got the final touch. Emily went onto get another to complete her hat trick and an own goal made the final score 5-0. The girls had a break before their final game against Halifax. They started well against this strong team and the defence were playing the ball out well to the wingers of Emma and Nellie who had some good runs. Louisa in goal made some brilliant saves and despite all the team working hard they lost the game 2-0.
All the girls enjoyed the games and gave 100% and will improve as the season goes on.
