Two Moore

After 2 weeks off Driffield were keen to get back playing. Driffield started the stronger and played some great hockey using both sides of the pitch, great runs up the wings by Rowan and Sophie sending crosses in that Layla was unlucky not to score. Ten minutes in and Sophie picked up a ball on the right and ran up the side line and crossed to Keely who swept it into the goal. Five minutes later Sophie crossed again and Keely was there again to score her second of the game. Driffield were playing well and the midfield of Wendy, Eleanor and Clemmie were dictating the play in the middle of the park. Appleby Frodingham got more into the game and were causing problems for our defence of Erin, Sue, Tash, Vicky and Bea and despite a great save from Shanie their goal came 5 minutes before half time. The last 5 minutes of the half was short corner after short corner to defend and the girls held strong, great running back from Layla to help defend meant we went into the break 2-1 up. We knew the second half would be tough as they are a strong team, but everyone gave their all and we carried on playing our passing game. Sophie was tying their defence in knots using skill and speed and was very unlucky not to score with her reverse stick shot just going over the crossbar. Bea made some great clearances and combined well with Eleanor and Rowan to get the ball up the left side. Appleby Frodingham got a free hit just on the 25 yard line that they got into the circle for their forward to score a goal with the last hit of the game, final score 2-2. We played so well as a team and the girlie vote was a close run affair but the deserved winner was Sophie. Donkey was Bea for a mix up with the Frodinghams.
