One goal is all it takes.

Hull Circle were the visitors to Driffield on Saturday. Driffield started well and passed the ball well across the back four of Erin, Tash, Vicky and Sue, sending great balls up both wings for Keely and Wendy to run onto. Driffield had all the play but could not convert into goals. Evie was staying high, making lovely runs and getting in great positions but still the goals did not come. Half time came and Wendy encouraged the team to want the ball and be first onto the loose balls. Rowan started the second half as left forward and straight away looked comfortable on the ball, combining well with Eleanor who crossed to Evie who struck the post. Immi was dominating the midfield and spreading the ball out to all areas of the pitch. Laura and Keely were making great runs and both were unlucky not to score. Immi and Sue combined well to get the ball to Laura, who had a shot saved. Rowan was straight onto the rebound and struck the ball well and at last Driffield had the goal they deserved. Most of the play was in the attacking half but any loose balls were picked up by Tash, Vicky or Erin, leaving our keeper Riona with very little to do. It was a great team effort with numerous players playing in new positions and carrying out whatever job was asked of them. Final score 1-0 to us, which leaves us 2nd in the league. Immi was the unanimous girly for total domination at the bottom of the diamond. Special mention to Rowan for scoring her first goal in only her second game for ladies.
