Last gasp equaliser

The fourth team started the season well against an experienced Goole side. We started the game with the bare eleven with our super sub Sophie coming straight from a school match. The first goal came after 15 minutes when Clemmie distributed the ball out to Keely on the wing who ran down and along the baseline passing the ball back for Rachel to score. The rest of the half was very even with both sides having chances. Goole scored just before halftime. After the half time team talk by Wendy, the young side started well, passing the ball well. Goole were the next to score but the Driffield heads did not go down and carried on playing some lovely hockey using all of the pitch. Immi, Clemmie and Laura ran their socks off in midfield sending balls into the circle for the forwards of Sophie, Evie, Rachel and Keely to get on the end of. Keely connected with one, making the score 2-2. Goole came back strong and despite the great efforts of Eleanor, Wendy, Vicky, Erin and our marvelous keeper Shanie, they scored a goal that looped over Shanie’s head. From the push back Driffield worked hard and the ball came to Eleanor on the left, she sent a ball up the wing to Sophie who ran up and across the base line using great skills and won us a penalty corner. The final whistle went so this was the last action of the game. The first penalty corner was hit off the back line by a defender so another was given. This was taken and shots were made and then the ball ended up with Immi who struck it well and scored to make the final score 3 -3. Girlie of the game was Clemmie and Donkey was Wendy (something to do with doing 3 cheers before the game had finished) A special mention must go to Erin Wilson in her first game for Ladies, she played brilliantly against a strong team.
