Driffield draw with Lindum
MATCH REPORT: 10th NOVEMBER
Saturday 10th November, Driffield Ladies 3s hosted against Lindum 3s at 11am. With mixed fortunes for Driffield so far this season they were determined for a win.
The first whistle blew and Driffield had won push back. Driffield started strong, dominating 90 percent of the possession in Lindums half which lead Wendy Gate to score the opener of the game. Julie Pease ran the ball into the D minutes later, taking a shot at goal but it was saved. Although Emily Williamson was quick to react as she caught the rebound and slipped it into the bottom right corner.
Driffield were off to a incredible start as midfielders: Sarah Soanes and Captain- Meg Sellars ran the length of the pitch numerous of times in search for a greater attack. Whilst Kim Dewhirst and Sharon Falkingham sat calmly behind- stopping any Lindum player who found a break.
In the 24th minute Lindum gained more possession and used it wisely as they attacked down the wing and found a goal. However Driffield knew there was still more in the game for them as they were later rewarded with a short corner. Kathryn Hardwick was patiently waiting on the left slip which lead her to sweep the ball and hit the back board!
At half time it was 3-1. Driffield spoke about team tactics and were eager to finish the game with a successful result.
The second half was well under way and the tension was building as each player on the pitch was working harder by the minute. Lindum weren’t stopping as they soon managed to equalise the game getting the ball past Kat Young (GK) despite many of her great saves throughout the game. Heather Meason and Lucy Welburn attacked down the wing endlessly making helpful runs in aid to keep the width of the pitch for Driffield. Whilst working with Holly Snaith who also helped defend as Lindum pressed hard in the last few minutes of the game.
The game resulted in a 3-3 draw. It may not have been the win Driffield were searching for but it does put a point on the table and Driffield hope to carry the positive spirit as they take on Sheffield Hallam 3s next week.
