Driffield L2 4 - 3 Pocklington L1
Driffield L2's cause Pocklington L1's Panic
After a challenging first match of the season Driffield L2's came back fighting this week to play Pocklington L1’s, winning 4-3.
The girls had their work cut out for them as Pocklington started strong scoring the opening goal of the match within the first five minutes, and shortly after, a second. This did not deter our ladies and some fantastic play from the midfield and the forwards saw a short corner allow Bry Sykes to put the first Driffield point on the board. Having found their feet Beth Dinsdale-Young scored an impressive equaliser from top D before half time.
Pep talks from Captains Jenny Dawson and Charlotte Smith, along with guidance from Driffield Ladies 1st team captain Lucy Wilson, sent the team back on with refreshed determination for a winning second half.
With a goal a piece from Chloe Rhodes and Beth Dinsdale-Young the Driffield squad were on phenomenal form. Their defensive line held strong virtually stopping the Pocklington girls in their tracks, bar one unfortunate goal from a short corner. This triumph has set the girls in good stead for their next opponents, Northallerton L1’s, playing at home next Saturday (6th Oct, 12.30pb). They will, undoubtedly, be hoping for another win to see them climb the table.
