M1's Back to Winning Ways

This past Saturday saw Driffield men’s 1’s travel away to Harrogate, looking to rediscover their winning ways after a loss against York the week prior.

Driffield started off looking the stronger team, stringing together passes and working as a unit. This resulted in many attempts on goal, unfortunately these attempts would not place the woldsmen 1-0 up. That would be until F.Needham made a long pass up to J.Lucas who squared the ball to B.Cunningham who slotted the ball into the bottom corner. The momentum maintained with Driffield and it wasn’t long before F.Needham found himself on the halfway line with space to drive, manoeuvring around the Harrogate defenders until he reached the D, with a clean open side strike seeing the ball rocket into the side netting, meaning Driffield would end the first half 2-0 up.

The second half would see no change in momentum, one attack saw a short corner awarded to driffield. An injection from F.Needham saw a flick along the floor from S.Falkinghan to a deflecting stick from G.Martindale sending the ball into the back of the net for the third time. This would be increased to four when O.Richardson crossed the ball to J.Lucas, who, with an open strike saw the ball hit just above the back board. The clean sheet would not be however, with a Harrogate attack and an unfortunate deflection off S.Falkingham’s stick saw a 4-1 score line which would remain unchanged until the final whistle.

Next week sees the return fixture with Driffield Men’s 1’s hosting Harrogate, hoping to maintain winning ways. Added thank you to those who travelled to support.
